E. Valeria Lantz, 85, of Golden Living Center , Blue Ridge Mountain and formerly of Lower Paxton Twp., died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in the Center.

She was born on January 29, 1922 in Enola , PA and was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Ethel N. (McBeth) Hepner. Val was the widow of W. William Lantz, who passed away in March, 1993. They were married for 50 years.

Val was a 1940 graduate of (Old) William Penn High School , Harrisburg . She was an avid reader and bingo player. Val also enjoyed Shar-Pei puppies. She was a former employee of Mellon Bank in its Safe Deposit Box Department; a member of Harris Street United Methodist Church for 69 years, and its Loyal Workers Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughter, Valeria Higgins, Harrisburg ; son W. William Lantz and his wife, Marla, Houston , TX ; two special grandsons, Joshua and Zachary Lantz, Houston , TX . She was their special “boogum.” Val is also survived by her sister, Catherine M. Reppert and her husband, Richard of Fountain Hill, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister M. Arlene Deavers and her husband Carlin.

“Boogum” will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but especially by her grandsons who meant the world to her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, 23 rd and Derry Sts, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Carl Ford Peterson, Officiating. Burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens . A viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
