Albert Kenneth "Ken" Dimond


Albert Kenneth “Ken” Dimond, 84, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 in Holy Spirit Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Salemville , PA on April 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Harvey K. and Susan S. Kagarise Dimond. He was a graduate of Replogle High School , New Enterprise, PA and attended the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania . Kenneth is survived by Spacha P. “Pat” Zaikoff Dimond, his beloved wife of more than 63 years.

Ken was a Certified Public Accountant and employed by L.B. Smith Inc. for nearly 50 years. He retired in 1995 as Treasurer of the L.B. Smith companies and Executive Vice President of L.B. Smith charitable foundations. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a former member of the West Shore School Board and the Board of the Harrisburg Riverboat Committee.

He served in the US Army during World War II, where he earned the Good Conduct Medal, a Bronze Star and Victory Medal. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church , Camp Hill and American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland.

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife and two daughters, Kendra Dimond Campbell and her husband, William of Fairfax, VA and Sondra Dimond Martorana and her husband, Kevin of Lancaster; granddaughter, Elena Lomicky and her husband, Joseph; great grandson, Emerson Leo Lomicky; and a sister, Vera “Mildred” Dimond Coble of San Antonio , TX . He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold “Bill” Dimond, Robert F. Dimond and Mahlon Ulcie Dimond and two sisters, Elda Marie Lippincott and Ella Mae Robinette.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 11:00 am in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church , 1610 Carlisle Rd. , Camp Hill with Rev. Joel D. Petruschke, his associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be Churchville Cemetery , Oberlin. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 7 to 9:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St . , Steelton and on Monday from 10 until 11:00 am in library of his church.
