Colleen M. Clouser Dore, 67, previously of Hershey, passed away at the home of her daughter in Camp Hill on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Ira Clouser and Helen Brashears Clouser of Steelton. Colleen graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School and Millersville University with a degree in early childhood education. Always an advocate for children's welfare, Colleen's career path guided her in many directions. She was a kindergarten teacher and director of Discovery Schools in Harrisburg , a child development specialist at Head Start in Lancaster and also worked for the Lancaster/Lebanon IU and the S. June Smith Center, Lancaster. While living in Florida , Colleen worked as a child protection investigator for the Broward County Sheriff's Office and was a parenting education coordinator with Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies in Ft. Lauderdale . She was retired from Philhaven in Mt. Gretna as a counselor. She was a member of The Bridge Church in Hummelstown, where she volunteered in the children's nursery. Among Colleen's interests were local theater, reading and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. Colleen will be remembered for her quick wit and incredible sense of humor. She had a heart of gold and was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and true friend. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Brooke A. Weaver and her husband, Wynn of Camp Hill, with whom she resided; Paige M. Paules and her husband, Scott and her granddaughter, Quinn Paules of Lancaster; her Aunt, Genevieve Pugh of Mechanicsburg; her cousins, Patricia Reilly, Diane Stanton, John Kauffman, all of Mechanicsburg, William Pugh of West Chester, Mary Louise Polatar of Harrisburg and Elaine Spriggs of Camp Hill; and many dear friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice in Middletown , especially Kelly L., for their devotion and professionalism with Colleen's care and comfort during her final months. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Four Diamonds Fund, c/o Penn State Hershey Medical Center , 500 University Dr. , Hershey , PA 17033 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 100 Brown St., Suite 23 , Middletown , PA 17057 .

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Colleen.. We worked together at the Center and she was exactly as described : an advocate for children.. I am sure her legacy remains in the lives of those she touched both professionally and personally. My thoughts are with her family and her friends who are supported by loving memories.
