Leonard C. Gouffer


Leonard C. Gouffer, 88, of Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle , and formerly of Spring Street, Oberlin, died Friday, March 28, 2008 in the Retirement Community.

He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, a retired Manager of the State Garage in Harrisburg for PA Dept. of Transportation, former General Manager of Hoffman Ford in Highspire and Lower Paxton Twp., former Claims Adjustor for Allstate Insurance Company, former co-owner of the former Warner Motors in Harrisburg and a former employee of Sutliff Chevrolet, Bethlehem Steel Corp. and Omega Products, Inc.

He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, Swatara Twp., a former member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Steelton, Oberlin Lions Club and VFW Post 710, Steelton.

Len is survived by his wife, Veronica A. Starsinic Gouffer; one son, Leonard A. Gouffer and his wife, Billie J. of New Bloomfield; two daughters, Elaine V. Dougher and her husband, Paul of New Cumberland and Beverly A. Leo and her husband, Robert of Hummelstown; five grandchildren, Lisa Long, Mark Dougher, Colleen Dougher, Kathleen Allen and Rebecca Leo-Fields; five great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11:00 am in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church with Rev. David M. Hereshko, his pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 am in his church. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St. , Harrisburg , PA 17111 or Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, 1 Longsdorf Way , Carlisle , PA 17013 .

 

My pop (Len) was the most loving and caring grandfather. I will always miss his smile and his love for having his family with him. Miss you pop!
