Marta Zacharuk Jarmolenko


Marta Zacharuk Jarmolenko, 82, resident of Lawnford Acres, Harrisburg for 40 years, and most recently a resident of Ecumenical Comm-unity, died suddenly Friday, July 4, 2008 at Comm-unity General Osteopathic Hospital.

She was born June 18, 1926 in the Ukraine, met her late husband, Vladimir Jarmolenko after World War II, and were married in Berlin, Germany 1946. They came to America in 1950, settled in Harrisburg, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1985.
Marta was a retired Meat Processor at the former Herpak Meat Company, Harrisburg and a member of St. Nicholas Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Oberlin and its Circle of Serbian Sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Nina Taylor & husband Robert, Severn, MD; one son, Stanley Jarmolenko and wife Susie, Wellsville, PA; her step-sister, Natja Kessler, Lower Paxton Twp.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her late husband Vladimir, passed away eight years ago.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Nicholas Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 601 S. Harrisburg Street, Oberlin, with the Very Rev. Stavrofor Srboljub Jockovich, Officiating. Burial in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the church.
