William J. Brunner, 91, of Masonic Village Elizabethtown, died Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the Village.
William was a retired Teacher and Educator for the Harrisburg School District with 35 years of service. He completed his Master's Degree at the University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria, served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and had flown 50 combat missions as a Tail Gunner in the lead B-24 bomber with the 460th Bombardment Group stationed in Spinazzola, Italy. He was a member of 29th United Methodist Church, Harrisburg and a PIAA official for track and field and cross country officiating for both District and State Championships.
William was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Paul Brunner and was the widower of Doris L. Hyman Brunner. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Brunner and is survived by one brother; John Brunner, Elizabethtown; two nephews, Jim Brunner and Steve Shuey; two nieces, Jodi Brunner and Gail Shuey, and one great-niece, Laura.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:30 pm in the Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St., Steelton, with Rev. Harold S. Fox, Officiating. Burial in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin. A viewing will be held on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in the funeral home.
