Salvatore G. "Sam" Magaro, 90, of Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg and formerly of Dayton Road, Oberlin, died Friday, May 12, 2017 in Country Meadows.
He was a retired Supply Specialist at the former New Cumberland Army Depot and the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown, He was the former co-owner of Village Beverage Drive-In, Harrisburg, a US Navy Veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, former member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Steelton and St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, Swatara Twp., Steelton Italian Club, Lawnton American Legion Post 998, and a life member of former VFW Post 710, Steelton.
Sam was the son of the late Gabriel and Louise Bruno Magaro and the widower of Esther E. Moul Magaro. He is survived by one son, Steven A. Magaro and his companion, Donna Jones of Hertford, NC; one daughter, Stephanie A. Acri and her husband, Marino "Joe" Acri of Mechanicsburg; and a granddaughter, Sonna Louise Magaro. He was preceded in death by his loving sister, Jean Magaro Bechtold.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 12 Noon in St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth G. Smith, his Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10:30 am until 12 Noon in his church. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.
