Obituary of Anthony Bernardo

Anthony O. Bernardo, 95, of Cambridge Retirement Center, Springfield, MO and formerly of Steelton, died Thursday, September 28, 2017 in the Center.

He was a US Marine Corps veteran of World War II, a retired Clerical Supervisor for the PA Dept. of Vital Records, Harrisburg, and the former co-owner of Bernardo's Store in Steelton. He was a member of the former St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Steelton and a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton, the Lawnton American Legion, the Steelton Italian Club and a longtime member of the Prince of Peace Bingo Committee.

Tony was the son of the late Quincy, Sr. and Verna Fure Bernardo and is survived by his companion, Loretta A. Miller of Springfield, MO; one nephew, Joseph Bernardo and his wife Debra of Swatara Twp.; one niece, Joan DeHart and her husband, Christopher of Lower Swatara Twp.; his sister-in-law, Joan Bernardo of Steelton; several great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Quincy Bernardo, Jr. and an infant sister, Verna.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 815 S. Second St., Steelton with Very Rev. David L. Danneker, his Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.
