Albert Spandler, 90, of Swatara Township, passed peacefully away after a long and happy life on Saturday, December 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at home.
Albert was born in Dulovac, Croatia. When he was 12 years old, his family was resettled to Monsee, Austria. He there successfully mastered Cabinetry trade school. In 1951, Albert emigrated from Austria to the United States. He proudly served in the US Army.
Albert is preceded in death by his wife, Lotte; his parents, Anton and Marija (Spoljaric) Spandler; and one brother, Arnold Spandler. Albert was called Opa by family and friends, most importantly his five grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica (Andy) Marinak, Kristina Spandler and Jacob and Dylan Dunkelberger and his three great grandchildren, Zackary and Kennedy Marinak and Ellena Spandler. He is also survived by his younger brother, Josef (Nancy) Spandler.
Albert was a mastered cabinet maker and worked his entire career at EC Snyder Architectural Millwork, retiring as the majority stockholder. Albert and Lotte had the time of their lives traveling throughout the world to Europe, Asia, South America and Russia. They enjoyed the music of many polka bands; watching them polka and waltz was truly captivating. After retiring, you could find Albert tinkering around his wood shop and flipping houses with his son, Robert. He loved seeing his great grandchildren every single day... they always knew how to bring a smile to his face. Always their biggest supporter, he attended many of their music and dance concerts.
