Bettie Huda

My mother Bettie A. Huda, 91, passed away peacefully January 8, 2023 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.

Born in Nescopeck, PA. July 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the Late Ted Stout and Elizabeth and Stanley Miraglia.

Those who preceded her were my dad, Michael L. Huda Sr. They shared 59 years of marriage. My sister Barbara Ann and my brother Michael L. Huda Jr. and my fun loving uncles Fred Stout, John Huda, her mother and father. In Laws John Huda and Anna Fedin Huda. Bettie loved them all tremendously.

Two words that best describe my mother are "Spit Fire". She kept Michael and me in line for sure. We were brought up to be polite; respectful of others and to work hard on our school studies. Her motto was "No Excuses". My mother was an excellent cook who learned from my Baba to make many traditional Russian dishes. Baba always teased my mom and said "you turned out OK for an American girl". They would laugh so hard together. Bettie loved to host parties for family and friends and our home was open to one and all. She was meticulous and a stickler for details.

My mom was bored and one day while ironing the milkman came (remember them?) and while chatting it up, Jay told her Milco Industries was looking for people. Off she went and the rest was history. Bettie started at the bottom and worked her way to management. She remained there for 32 years. The biggest kick she got was when Gary Van Pelt had a personalized plate made to designate her front and center parking spot. My mom loved her work there and formed many life long friendships along the way.

Hurricane Lee blew into Bloomsburg and our home was flooded. Leaving a path of destruction. At 82 years old, I attempted to convince her to sell and walk away. Bettie would not hear of it. She charged full steam ahead along with the contractors and rebuilt her home. (Got the picture by now?).

My mother is survived by her grandson Michael L. Huda III wife Jennifer: five great grandchildren: Madison, MacKenzie, Taylor, Michael and Lilly. Sister in law Kay Jones Stout:; Niece Jennifer McWilliams, great niece Emma McWilliams, nephew Fred Stout wife Tracy; great nieces Anna and Julia Stout. And her loving best friend and partner in crime Marian DiPasquale. They were the dynamic duo.

Per my mothers request there will be no services. She will be laid to rest with my father at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Mom, I Love You so very much. The last two years of us sharing my home brought us closer than we have ever been. It was my privilege to care for you. Once again, You made me a better person.

You will live in my heart forever,

Your daughter, Suzanne
