Carl Fanus

Carl E. " Whitey" Fanus 90, of Shipoke, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday August 2, 2021.

Whitey was born in Harrisburg on August 25, 1930, the son of the late Gruver and Elizabeth Fanus. He was a retired salesman for United Refrigeration. Whitey enjoyed deer hunting in Cameron County in Sinnemahoning, at the Buttonwood Camp, fishing in Florida, and was also a fan of Penn State sports. He also enjoyed time in Ocean City, Maryland at the beach with family and friends.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Martha (McFadden) Fanus, of Harrisburg; two sons, Thomas Fanus and his wife Vivian of Enhaut, Robert Fanus and his wife Eileen of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Michelle Gutshall (George), Brian Fanus (Marita), Linnette Knight (Dave), Heidi Haines; six great grandchildren, Ashley, Mitchell, Brayden, Jack, Gavin, Julian; and one sister Pat.

Whitey was preceded in death by four brothers, Jim, Bob, Russell, Donald, and one sister Betty.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday August 11, 2021 at 11:00 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Harrisburg St. Oberlin with the Rev. Dr. Alan C. Wenrich, officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

A Celebration of Whitey''s life will be held and announced at a later date.
