Charlene Corbacio

Charlene K. Corbacio (Shipp), 69, of Hershey, died on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Char was born in Harrisburg in to the late Charles Shipp and Peggy Galbraith (Haas).

Her incredible 69 years on earth were filled with lots of love, laughter, and great memories. Char had a life filled with so much love from her family and friends. Char spent the early part of her adult life in New York and Philadelphia working for various companies in the cosmetics industry including; CHANEL INC., PIERRE FABRE INC., John Wanamaker’s, and MACY’S.

Throughout her time, she met many friends who would become family for the remainder of her life. After nearly two decades away from the area, she returned home to Harrisburg and married her husband Joe Corbacio. After the birth of their daughter Josie, they relocated to Hershey.

As one of the premier make up artists in the area, Char’s skills were called upon for special occasions for her clients and staff at Macy’s. After retirement from Macy’s, she took a position with Hershey Entertainment, working with her daughter Josie.

She was a selfless person, who was always there for her friends and family. In the last 2,744 day's, she faced her greatest battle, Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer. We were blessed with over 7 amazing years thanks to the incredible staff at Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute and University of Pennsylvania Perelman Cancer Center including Dr. Salah Almokadem, Dr. Corey Langer, Dr. Patrick Ma.

Char defied many odds in her cancer walk. She truly loved every person who ever helped her on her cancer journey. The last 7 years do not define Char as just a cancer patient, but truly showed her strength as a cancer warrior. She refused to let it slow her down with frequent trips to Italy, France and the UK.

We will miss our Char more than words can describe, we were so blessed to have so many incredible memories with a truly fabulous, beautiful, smart, sweet, and loving person.

Char is survived by her loving Husband of 29 years, Joseph "Joe" Corbacio; Daughter, Josie and Son-in-law Kevin Dougherty; Father, William “Bill” Galbraith; Brother, Steve Shipp; Nephew, Harrison Shipp and Wife Adriana; a Great Nephew, Harrison Shipp Jr.; Mother-In-Law, Theresa Corbacio plus numerous aunts, uncles, and countless friends who became family. Char was an animal lover and had several pets that passed before her, but she leaves behind her beloved Italian Greyhound “Izzy” and granddogs Bryce and Mellow Dougherty who all adored her.
