Charles Walter Fickes Jr., 86, of Camp Hill, passed away at home on Sunday, February 4th, 2024.
Charlie was born September 24, 1937 in Harrisburg. He worked for The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties for 20 years. Prior to that he worked for Fine Line Homes in construction.
Known by all as “Charlie” he was a skilled tradesman and exceptional craftsman. He had a passion for antiquing, flea markets and grabbing that "great find" to restore it. He made a lot of items for friends and family over the years. His love of sports included Penn State, Indianapolis Colts, Boston Celtics, Baltimore Orioles and NASCAR that he shared watching with his family every Sunday at his house. His sense of humor, impeccable strength, wisdom and unwavering love for his family turned Sundays into long conversations and constant laughter that his family will miss dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Walter Fickes Sr. and Thelma (Meek) Fickes; his sister Ellen Rowe; two brothers Richard and John Fickes. He is survived by his sons and their wives; Jack A. and Misuk Fickes of Anchorage, AK, Daniel L. and Julia Fickes of Etters, PA and a daughter Kim L. Fickes of Camp Hill, PA; three brothers, Russell and Claudia Fickes of Etters, PA, Kenneth and Bonnie Fickes of York Haven, PA, Edward Debbie Fickes of Middletown; a sister, Shirley Kay Varner of Middletown, PA; seven grandchildren, Michelle Novelli, Ryan Fickes, Stacy Apple, Daniel Fickes, Jr, Brandi Fickes, Ashley Marks and Joshua Marks; 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, is handling arrangements.
