Charles R. "Rooster" Hoffer, 87, of Lower Swatara Township, died Sunday, February 25, 2024 in the Middletown Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was a retired Maintenance Plumber for the former TRW, Inc. He also had worked for Mummerts Plumbing and Heating. He was a graduate of the former William Penn High School, where he was Athlete of the Year and was a Life Guard at Harrisburg's City Island in years past. He was a member of Swatara Church of God, former First Church of God, Harrisburg and Lykens Valley Roamers Camping Club. He was a member of the Colonial Fire Company and the Paxtang Fire Company.

Rooster is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Frank Hoffer; three children, Charles Hoffer, Jr. wife Molly, Linda Mehaffie husband Tom, Dyanne Smith husband Chris; six grandchildren, Abbey Hoffer (Paul Wilson), Allison Repp (Jesse); Nathan Smith (Brianna) and Sam Smith (Leah), Melissa Grady and Ryan Grady (Jodi Myers); five great-grandchildren, Macie Repp, Benjamin Smith, Leighton Smith, Caden Grady, McKenzie Grady. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel (Hoch) Hoffer, three brothers, Bill, Mike Jim and one sister, Nancy.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 am in Swatara Church of God, 4860 Lindle Rd. Harrisburg with Pastor Nancy Boyer, Officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the church. Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oberlin are handling arrangements.
