Cynthia Russell

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia “Cindy” Russell, 74, a longtime resident of Somerset Street in Harrisburg, PA, on December 31, 2021.

Born in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on October 30, 1947, Cindy is survived by her three children, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren: her daughter Misty Frye, her husband Andy, and their children Heather Frye; Jordan Damone, her husband, Chris, and their children, Jude, Parker, and Riley Damone; and Andrew Frye; her daughter Marty Russell and her children Danielle Cordero, her fiance Tim Colechio, and their daughter Adalyn Colechio; Risa Cordero; and David Cordero, his wife Heather, and their children David and Julian; and her son Stephen Russell, his fiance Trina Barton, and their children Braylin Russell, her partner Caspian and their daughter Leila Henderson; Deven Barton, Teagan Russell, and Nicco Russell; her brothers Timothy Jones and his family; Bryan Jones and his family; and Doug Jones and his family; her step-mother Mary Lou Jones, and a number of nephews, cousins, and countless “extras” and chosen family she’d acquired over the years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Casey Jones; her mother and step-father, Doris and Tom Schroy; her younger brother Wesley Jones, and her grandchild Dylan Barton.

While Cindy’s life may have seemed short to many, those that were privileged enough to have been part of her family know that her charm, wit, and genuine care for all will live on far beyond the time she spent on this earth.

In her life, Cindy was a loving and dedicated mother, “Gram,” and “GG.” Her family was the center of her life and her love for them knew no limits. She was her children’s biggest supporter and her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, constantly offering a place to gather while cracking more than a few jokes. She was a skillful seamstress, a talented gardener with a love for irises, an avid reader of romance novels, a puzzle doer, and a watcher of westerns.

Cindy loved her family fiercely and we take comfort in knowing that her light will continue to shine while she is at peace. She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.

A visitation for Cindy’s life is scheduled 10:00 - 11:00 am on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 South Harrisburg Street, Oberlin, Steelton PA 17113. Donations, and condolences may be offered at Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc. 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg PA 17111.
