Daniel R. Bortner 69, of Steelton passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 9, 2021.
He was born in Harrisburg on October 30, 1951, the son of the late Irwin Lester Bortner Jr. and the surviving, Beverly L. Botts Bortner. He was a graduate of Dauphin County Vo-Tech. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Daniel was of the Lutheran faith, and a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church in Harrisburg. He worked part time for the former Bortner Automotive, and retired as a school bus driver for the Central Dauphin School District. Daniel was a member of the American Legion Post #420, The St. Lawrence Club #13, and the Dutch Club all of Steelton.
Daniel is survived by his mother, Beverly; his siblings Steven M. Bortner and his wife Roxanne of Chambersburg; Kathy Coccia and her husband Frank of Harrisburg; and Mark E. Bortner and his wife Tina of Lake Wynonah; Daniel is also survived by five nieces, one nephew, 5 great nieces, 4 great nephews, and two great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and his wife Alma E. Bortner.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday March 23 at 11:00 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 South Harrisburg Street, Oberlin, with the Rev. Dr. Alan C. Wenrich, officiating.There will be no viewing or visitation and private burial with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
