David Burross

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Wayne Pete Burross (65) on Thursday, June 15,2023 in York PA, due to complications following a long illness.
Pete was born to Imogene (Adams Burross) Glimpse and David Elvis Burross on November 30,1957 in Lexington TN. He was raised in a southern baptist home in Sardis-Savannah area of Southern TN. Pete remained a faithful member of the Southern Baptist community throughout his life.
In the mid-eighties, Pete left the Catfish Capital of the World and accepted employment as a heavy machine operator with Earth Support. In 1985 one project brought him to PA working with a friend, Arthur Bink Rhodes. Little did Pete know at the time that introduction to Bink''s sister Kristen, would forever change his life for the better. Pete moved to central PA, he became Kris''s Pumpkin while she became his Kitten, Pete and Kristen were married in December 1989. Pete willingly adopted Kris''s young son Michael, and in 1990 with the birth of his babygirl Kelly-Linn, who stole his heart , Pete''s ideal family was completed.
Pete worked for various contractors and engineering companies such as Terra-Tech, GeoStructures and Berkel. One project found Pete working locally constructing the Susquehanna River Bridge, which will forever be known as Poppy''s Bridge by his beloved grandchildren. Pete worked a lot but his heart was always home with his family. Pete was a family-oriented man and a loyal reliable friend. His kids could count on him for absolutely anything whether it was good or bad or they just needed dads wise advice, as much as his friends could count on him to have their backs in any bar fight. Pete was the one you wanted to have your back.
Pete could be take himself out of Tennessee but Tennessee could never be taken out of Pete. Not only did he never missed a TN Volunteers or Titans Game but, his hilarious homegrown expressions never left him nor failed to entertain. Pete''s easy-to-know personality and his great sense of humor combined with that hillbilly charm would be found entertaining by his family as well as his co-workers in the northern locations by requesting A Fixin of Tator-Tots or letting them know they may need to Smack out a Skillet of Somethin.
Pete loved his life living with his family in Long Neck Delaware. Cruising the DelMarVa waters on his pontoon boat, and riding his golf cart with his Shitzu Spanky Pete was a TV Westerns enthusiast. Pete enjoyed camping, fishing and yard work. This loving husband, father and grandfather was happiest at family picnics, parties or events where his infectious charisma and humor were often the main attraction. Pete loved traveling with his family, taking Kelly-Linn to work with him in the summers and making memories. He was fond of spending time with his grandkids, Lillian, Brayden, Joshua and Taytum. He was exceedingly proud of them and loved to prank, tell them stories and teach them life lessons. Pete was easy to know and hard to forget. He spent his last day on earth in true Pete fashion, joking and entertaining with the medical staff at UPMC. He always had a smile and his laugh was contagious.
Left to cherish Pete''s memory are his loving wife Kristen.L (Rhodes) Burross; his daughter, Kelly-Linn (Burross) Ward; son in law Ronnie Ward; grandkids Lillian, Brayden, Joshua and Taytum of RedLion and Nicholas M.Burross of NJ; his mother Imogene (Adams Burross) Glimpse of Sardis TN. Along with countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, David Elvis Burross of Savannah TN; his son Micahel D. Burross of Harrisburg PA; and his sister Donna Burross of Savannah TN.
Pete''s family would like to thank the medical staff at UPMC Memorial for the wonderful care and heart-warming sympathy they devoted to his wife Kristen and daughter Kelly and their family.
