Douglas Hickey

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas D. Hickey, a cherished resident of Steelton, PA. At the age of 67, he departed from this world in the comfort of his home.

Douglas dedicated 29 years of his life to the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement. He was a valued member of the Steelton community and actively participated in various social clubs, including St. Mary''s Catholic Club, St Lawrence CFU Lodge, The Dutch Club and the Fifth Ward. His presence and involvement brought joy to those around him.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved siblings: Linda Warren, Denice Fleming, Kathleen Comrey, Pedro Ortiz, Juan Ortiz, and Lisa Ortiz-Brown. Douglas was a brother whose kindness and love touched the lives of his family, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Douglas''s commitment to family extended to his children. He lovingly entrusted his sons, Darryll and Joshua, to his devoted wife Joanne. Though their paths diverged in later years, he had a deep longing to be actively involved in the lives of his two additional sons, Daniel and Douglas, even though circumstances prevented him from doing so. Despite the challenges, he carried an enduring love for them.

Douglas D. Hickey will always be remembered for his warm spirit, his unwavering dedication, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable individual, let us hold onto the cherished memories he leaves behind, keeping his spirit alive in our hearts forever. May he rest in eternal peace.

A Celebration of Doug''s life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 South Harrisburg Street, Oberlin. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in the funeral home. An additional gathering will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm in Saint Mary''s Catholic Club, 643 South Front Street, Steelton. All are welcome.
