Edward R. Schaffstall, 81, of Country Meadows of Hershey and formerly of Susquehanna Twp., died Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Country Meadows.
He was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy serving 20 years of active service and an additional 10 years in the US Navy Reserve. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Roman Catholic Church, a lifetime member of Steelton VFW Post 710, American Legion and World War II Round Table in Hershey.
Ed was the son of the late Robert and Adeline Magnelli Schaffstall and is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Deanna M. Schaffstall; three sons, Robert Schaffstall and wife, Raven of Memphis, TN, Richard Schaffstall and wife, Susan of Dillsburg, and Gerald Schaffstall and wife, Carol of Harrisburg; one sister, Roberta Wolfgang of Camp Hill; three grandchildren, James, Lynne, and Joseph Schaffstall; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 11:00 am in St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Roman Catholic Church, Susquehanna Twp. with Rev. Leo M. Goodman III, his Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in his church. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oberlin.
