Eleanor Coccia LaVia, 94, of Lower Paxton Township and formerly of Steelton, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
She was a retired Tax Examiner with the PA Dept. of Revenue, a member of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, Swatara Twp., Parish Council of Catholic Women, and the Auxiliary of the Lawnton American Legion Post 998.
Eleanor was the daughter of the late Paul and Rosella Sendi Coccia and the widow of Louis R. LaVia, Sr.. She is survived by one son, Louis R. LaVia, Jr. and his wife, Reba of Swatara Twp.; one daughter, Judith LaVia Jones and her husband, Larry of Lower Paxton Twp.; a daughter-in-law, Susan Kamenar LaVia of Lower Paxton Twp.; a sister, Marie Clement of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Chad and Tammy; five great grandchildren, Brandon, Kim, Isabella, Justin and Amanda; two great great grandchildren, Bentley and Makenna; a caring niece, Mary Ann Clement; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, John P. LaVia; a sister, Jeannette Rodgers; and a brother, Joseph Coccia. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren''s events.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Swatara Twp. with Rev. James E. Lease, her Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 am until 11:00 am in her church. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, OBERLIN.
