Elizabeth Mehaffie

Elizabeth Mehaffie Hayes, aged 84, passed away on July 25, 2024. She was a beloved friend, mother, wife, grand, and great- grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Elizabeth was born on August 15, 1939 in Philadelphia, but spent most of her childhood in Seaford, Delaware. Upon leaving the nest, Elizabeth moved to New Jersey to start her journey to adulthood. Throughout her life she was known for her hard work, dedication, and big heart for helping others.

More than anything, Elizabeth was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, sharing stories, and watching them grow. She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement no matter what challenges they faced.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth was a helping hand to many. She offered her home, compassion, and support to all who were in need. She was an active member of her community, attending Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren and volunteering for various causes.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband Rick Mehaffie, her children, Brenda Carter, Tosha Hayes Knight, and Jay Boyce, and her many many beautiful and adored grand and great-grandchildren. Elizabeth took pride in being able to name every one in order by birthdate. Her memory will be cherished by anyone that had the privilege to know such an admirable person.
