Esther Lau

Esther Arlene (Heffner) Lau, 92, of Oberlin, passed away at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Thelma (Forney) Heffner. She was the loving wife of the late William Leroy Lau, Sr., who passed away in 1993.
Esther graduated from Swatara High School in 1949. She was a long-standing member of the Swatara Church of God. She also enjoyed bowling and would bowl 3 times a week in her younger years. Most important to her was her family and would host many family pool parties in the Summer. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be very much missed.
Esther is survived by three children, Donna Miller and husband Jay, Mechanicsburg, PA, William Leroy Lau, Jr. and wife Constance, Middletown, PA, and Sharon Ford and husband Garry, St. Augustine, FL; her five grandchildren, Amber, Timothy, Jason, Ryan and Rachel and seven great grandchildren; and her sister Betty Hardy and husband Ralph; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lau, and a brother, James Heffner.
A Funeral Service will be held at Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 S Harrisburg Street, Oberlin, PA 17113 on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 12:00 PM. A Viewing will be held in the funeral home prior to service from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Churchville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Swatara Church of God at 4860 Lindle Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
