Evelyn A. Hippensteel, 83, of Steelton, passed away at Oak Hill Village on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hippensteel, Sr. and Minnie (Boyanowski) Hippensteel.
Evelyn worked for G.C. Murphy for over 40 years, then for the PA Department of Revenue Lottery for 10 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Verhovay Home Association, Harrisburg. She was well known at the Promenade Restaurant and loved going to the casino. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Nashville. She was a big fan and personal friend to Sonny James and his wife Doris. She also loved going to country music concerts and had the opportunity to meet many performers.
Evelyn is survived by her brother, John A. Hippensteel and wife Annette; her nieces and nephews Cheryl A. Hippensteel and partner Wayne Kline, Tod A. Hippensteel and wife Kelly, Karen L. Mooney and husband Roger, Jason A. Hippensteel, Tracy Watkins and husband Jim, Samuel Hippensteel and wife Pattie, Trisha L. Torres and husband Mike, and Frank Egresitz and wife Ann; as well as many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Kathleen M. Hippensteel, Charles Hippensteel, Jr., Roy Hippensteel, and Margaret Hippensteel; and her nephews Charles Hippensteel, III and Jeffrey Hippensteel.
A Viewing will take place at Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 S Harrisburg Street, Oberlin, PA 17113 on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home with Rev. Harold Fox and Rev. Ronald Costen co-officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
