Harold S. "Hap" Shull, 87, Stroudsburg, died Friday, February 18, 2022 in the Gardens at Blue Ridge, Lower Paxton Twp., under the care of Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
He was born in Swatara Township, and was the son of the late Henry A. Shull and Esther A. Eshenour Shull.
Hap is survived by his four daughters, Catherine S. and husband David G. Fernald, Stroudsburg; Stephanie K. and husband Andrew F. Miranda, Harrisburg; Tracy M. Shull, Harrisburg and Jeannie R. Shull, Enola; two grandchildren, Nicholas B. Hoyles, Enola and Brandon M. Shull, Harrisburg; three great-grandchildren, Kayden, Arilee, and Jaxton Hoyles, Enola. He is also survived by his pal "Stormie," the family pet, several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Alford Lee Shull and sister E. Jane Zepp.
He was a 1952 Graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School. After high school, he served his country in the United States Army for six years. After his military service, he was a Steelworker for the former Bethlehem Steel, Steelton.
Hap was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Highspire VFW Post 8638, Steelton Italian Club, Steelton and Middletown Loyal Order of Moose; Steelton American Legion Post 420, Fifth Ward Republican Club; West Fairview American Legion Post 984, Enola, 40-8 Club of Chambers Hill. Hap was also a diehard Boston Red Sox Fan.
One of his greatest achievements was, along with his wife, Kathleen (Katz) Shull, shared being his daughters gym teacher for several years during grade school for the former St. Mary''s grade school
Hap was a huge supporter and coach of Steelton-Highspire Midget Football and Basketball for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid golfer who spent a lot of time on golf courses everywhere. He loved Blues music and would attend concerts whenever he could.
He was also proud of his 30 years of sobriety with the help of Gaudenzia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki, Celebrant. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 South Harrisburg Street, Oberlin. Burial, with full military honors, will be on Monday, February 28, 2022 10:30 am in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Family and Friends are invited to meet at the cemetery by 10:15 am to join the procession to the Committal Shelter.
