Jeanne Ellis

Jeanne Smith Ellis, 98, of Carlisle and formerly of Annapolis, MD, died Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph College, Emmittsburg, MD, a retired High School Teacher at Delone Catholic High School, a Social Worker at Dept. of Human Services for the State of Maryland, and a member of St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg.

Jeanne was the daughter of the late J. Preston and Kathryn Starr Smith and the widow of William Ellis. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Timothy Ellis. She is survived by four nieces, Karen Schlageter, Kathryn Smith, Joanne Weaver and Carleen Smith Jensen; and two nephews, Barry Weiss and Rev. Kenneth G. Smith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 5:00 pm in St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, 1 Peter Dr., Mechanicsburg with her nephew, Rev. Kenneth G. Smith as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in her church. Private graveside committal will be held at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, McSherrystown at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oberlin.
