Joan Semic Fenice (80), of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed peacefully at home with her children by her side on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Joan was born in Harrisburg, PA on January 26, 1943 to George and Mary (Pohner) Semic. She graduated from Steelton-Highspire High School, class of 1960.
After graduating, Joan worked with her parents who owned Boulevard Market on Jonestown Road in Harrisburg. After raising her children, she began a long career as executive secretary to the president of Dauphin Distribution Services Company. Joan then started her own business, JSF secretarial service and later, with her husband Paul, acquired Fenicci''s Restaurant (formerly DeAngelis Restaurant) in Hershey, PA. For over 18 years, she and her family enjoyed successful business ownership of Fenicci''s and upon selling, she enjoyed her well-deserved retirement with Paul.
Joan was a loving, caring individual with a heart of gold. She is always remembered for her gift of love and support to all family and friends. Joan is most treasured by her family, especially her grandchildren who brought her endless pride and joy. Joan was a long-standing member of St. Joseph''s Roman Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Beth Ann. She is survived by her son Jeff and wife Linda of Mechanicsburg, PA; daughter Paula and husband Brad of Hopkinton, NH. Her legacy continues with four grandchildren Steven, Joseph, Nicholas and Gina, in addition to two great-granddaughters Lucy and Lily; sister Patricia Cackovic, brother David Semic and wife Rose Semic; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 400 E. Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg with Rev. Thomas J. Rozman, Celebrant. A visitation will be held at the church preceding the mass from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Private Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of family.
