John K. Brunner

John K. Brunner, 97, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in the Village.

He was a graduate of Elizabethtown College and an Army veteran of World War II. John was a retired teacher, coach, counselor, and athletic director for the Central Dauphin School District at Central Dauphin East High School, where he served as first Basketball Coach in 1955. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Steelton, Abraham Treichler Lodge No. 682 F AM, Elizabethtown, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Temple, Central PA Sports Hall of Fame, and PA Interscholastic Athletic Assn. He officiated for track and field and basketball for high schools and colleges for over 30 years.

John was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Paul Brunner and the widower of Nancy R. Rennard Brunner. He is survived by a devoted friend, Roosevelt Lawson and several nieces, including Wendy Penica and Gail Rados, his caregivers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Edward Brunner.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S. Harrisburg St., Oberlin, PA with Rev. Pamela Carnes, his Pastor, officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 221 S. Second St., Steelton, PA 17113.
