John Derr

John W. "Skee" Derr 78 of Millville, Delaware, formerly of Camp Hill entered into God''s arms on Tuesday July 13, 2021.

He was born in Harrisburg on October 21, 1942, the son of the late John and Blanche Derr. Skee was a graduate of John Harris High School, Class of 1960. After high school he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. Skee was member of the Park Street United Methodist Church. His greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren and family, playing drums, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 49.

Skee was an avid snare drummer and served in the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. Throughout the years, he was a member of a number of different Drum and Bugle Corps including the Westshoremen, and the Westshoremen Alumni; Reading Buccaneers, and the Reading Buccaneers Alumni; and the New York Skyliners Alumni.
Skee was a member of the John Harris High School Reunion Committee and gathered and provided historical information to his fellow alumnus.

Skee is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Connie Wertz Derr; three daughters, Denise (Dusty) Kruger, Stacey Derr, and Lori Derr; two stepdaughters, Monica Murphy and Melissa Murphy; 10 grandchildren, Alexa, Connor, Jason, Sarena, Mya, Christian, Isaac, Liliana, Joshua, and John III; and one niece, Debra Brown. Skee was preceded in death by his sister, Vonnie (Derr) Brown and his aunt, Fay Heim.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 22, 2021 at 11:00 am, in Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 S. 22nd St. Camp Hill PA 17011, with the Rev. Dr. Jack Grove, and the Rev. Dr. G. Edward Zeiders pastors, officiating. A viewing will be held on Wednesday July 21, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the church. Burial with full military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oberlin.
