Joseph N. Pavelic (Popeye) of Steelton, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his daughter''s home, surrounded by his loving family.
Popeye was born August 26, 1935 on the West Side of Steelton and was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Dermes) Pavelic. He is preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and then wife of 37 years, Patricia A. Morrett and his son, Joseph S. Pavelic. He was a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School and a retiree of Bethlehem Steel Plant 11" Bar Mill. He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church and St. Aloysius Lodge No. 42, KSKJ.
He was a lifelong Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan and loved his UConn Huskies girls'' basketball, and coach Gino. Between playing craps and blackjack at the casino, Saturday morning coffee with his daughters, and his phone calls from his grandsons, Popeye found joy in life''s little pleasures. His daughters and grandsons were his proudest supporters.
Popeye is survived by his daughters, Georgeann (Gary) Miceli and Janice (Timothy) Jones, both of Hummelstown; his grandsons, Kyle (Celine) Jones of Nassau, Bahamas and Michael Miceli of London, England; and his great granddaughter, Sadie and great grandson, Avery. He is also survived by his companion, Eleanor Shepler.
He will always be remembered for the positive energy he brought to the lives of his friends and family, no matter the circumstance. He showed by example what it meant to be a father/grandfather who lived by "family always comes first", a sentiment that we will always cherish and live by.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Swatara Twp. with Rev. James A.
