Obituary of Katherine Stark
Katherine (Schenk) Stark, age 102, died peacefully on November 13, 2020 under the loving care of the angel caregivers at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Messiah Village who so lovingly cared for her - especially in her final days.

Born in Steelton on October 12, 1918 to German immigrants Heinrich and Katherine Schenk, Katherine lived the happiest of childhoods on Mohn Street, speaking several languages growing up with the many immigrants who lived harmoniously in that preverbal melting pot.

Together with her loving husband Henry, Katherine led a rich and full life in Steelton during their early marriage and for 48 years in Lemoyne where they raised their family.

She and Henry spent a large part of their lives dancing, starting with the Deutscher Quartet Club in Steelton and through the numerous functions at the Zembo Shrine. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and along with Henry, livened every function they attended. She was a loving daughter, mother, wife, sister, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Stark, her parents Heinrich and Katherine Schenk, and three brothers: Henry, John and Casper.

She is survived by her two sons, Dennis C. and Richard A.; two beloved daughters-in-law, Lynda and Shirley Stark, and one grandchild, Kristin V., all of Lemoyne, and several nieces and nephews. Katherine was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lemoyne and was a former member of German Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Steelton.

She was retired from Fleet Material Support Office, Defense Activities, Mechanicsburg, and had previously been employed at the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Lower Swatara Township.

She was a member of: Steadfast Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, #479, Willard Court, Order of the Amaranth, #54, Ozemb Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, #52, Es Said Court, Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of North America, #29, Bethany Shrine, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, #7, Camelot Chapter, American Business Women’s Association, Zembo Shrine Usherettes, Zembo Shrine Zee Legionettes, Cedarettes, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest #43, New Cumberland Woman’s Club, Lemoyne Senior Citizens, American Association of Federal Retired Employees, Chapter #1465, American Association of Retired People, United Gas Improvement Golden Embers Retirement Club, Golden Agers of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Steelton, Lemoyne Civics Club, .and a volunteer at Holy Spirit Hospital for many years.

Due to the corona virus, there will be no viewing or public services. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the immediate family. Interment will be at Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
