Kathy L. (Carnes) Sviben, 70, of Middletown, passed away at home on Friday, May 10, 2024. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Dorothy (Lyter) Carnes. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph James Sviben, who passed away on October 24, 1997.
Kathy was raised on the West Side of Steelton and graduated from Steelton-Highspire High School in 1972. She was a homemaker and was devoted to family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would often go on trips to Gettysburg.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Heather Sviben and partner Dave Gornik; her grandchildren Brandi Ward and husband Brandon, Amanda Turk and husband Frank, and Joseph Sviben; her great-grandchildren Camden Ward and Paityn Ward; her brother Milton Carnes and partner Tricia; as well her sisters-in-law Linda Carnes, Colleen Carnes, and Nicole Cuckovic Hinkle; brother-in-law John Sviben; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings William Carnes, Dottie Ann Koons, Ida Carnes, Beth Ann Carnes, Ted Carnes, Russell Carnes, and Dana Hinkle.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place at the Bressler Club, 757 Main Street, Swatara Township, PA 17113 on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 3:00 PM.
