Monte R. Fitting

Monte R. Fitting, 85, of Oberlin, passed away comfortable in his home, surrounded by  his loved ones.

He was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School and played football and hockey in his youth.  He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corporation, a member of the former St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Steelton, and a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton, and St. Lawrence Lodge No. 13 Croatian Fraternal Union.  He spent many hours sharing stories and historical facts about Steelton.

Monte enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in the mountains.  What Monte valued most was spending time with his family and friends and traveling the world.

Monte was the son of the late Ellwood and Margaret Smith Fitting and the widower of Christine A. Lappano Fitting and Jacqueline Fitting. He is survived by a son, Monte V. Fitting and wife, Maryann of Middletown and a daughter, Christine M. Fitting of Camp Hill; two half sisters, Cherie Dillow of Mt. Joy and Nadene Moser of South Carolina.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 815 S. Second St., Steelton with Rev. Arokiaraj Amalorpava, Parochial Vicar, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 So. Harrisburg St., Oberlin, PA.
