Nicholas F. Kolish, 73, of Lower Paxton Twp., died Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center with his loving wife by his side.
He was a 1966 Graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School; retired Machinist/Calibrator for AMP/TYCO; social member of Rutherford VFW and Rutherford Fire Hall.
Those who knew Nick knew him as an Entertainer. It wasn''t his profession or something he did - it''s who he was. In his youth he would sing and dance at St. Mary''s Kolo Club. Later, he became known for his jokes, his storytelling, even his cooking. Nick enjoyed making people happy. He was an avid Penn State fan, a coin collector, and was immensely proud of the military service of his sons, son-in-law and grandson. He loved fishing and road trips with his Wharf friends, notably his lifelong buddy Mike Burke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Kolish, Sr., and Mary Krizmanic Kolish and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne K. Flannery Kolish; his children, Nicholas A. Kolish and wife Leigh; Shawn Kolish and wife Paula; Adie Hanisko and husband LTC Bryan Hanisko; beloved Peepaw of Grandchildren, Haileigh Hanisko, Taylor Kolish, LCpl Brendan Hanisko, Alex Kolish, Reyna Kolish and Damon Kolish; sister, Cheryl Williams; brother, Andrew Kolish; brother-in-law, Warren Green; and sister-in-law, Joan Kolish. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Kolish and sister, Rosemary Green.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 9:30am - 10:30am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 South Harrisburg St., Oberlin, followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00am in Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 815 South Second St., Steelton, with the Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki, Pastor, Officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
