Norman Ralph Hendrie, 82, of Harrisburg, passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Norman and Elga (Yanessa) Hendrie. He was the loving husband of Jacqueline “Jackie” (Lewis) Hendrie. Together, they shared 54 years of marriage.
Norman was a member of the Local IBEW 98 Electricians Union. He was the owner of Jamera Apartments and was a partner in M & J Commercial Properties. He proudly served in the US Army from 1962-1966. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and travelling with his wife and their group of friends to casinos. He loved starting his day early by taking care of and maintaining his properties.
Norman was a very generous man who devoted much of his time giving and helping others. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Helping Hands, Natural Disaster Relief, and Dauphin County Agency on Aging.
In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by his sister, Joyce Williams; and great-nephew David DiGregorio, who provided great care during his illness; as well as many other nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 6 nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street in Harrisburg. Committal will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A Visitation will be held at the church prior to service from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM.
