Rachel L. Ginder Springer, 82, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2024, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Lancaster County and lived on the family farm in Milton Grove, PA near Mt. Joy. She was the daughter of the late Roy G. and Alice R. (Heistand) Ginder. Rachel retired from the Pennsylvania State Parole Board in Harrisburg after 36 years as a Parole Manager III in 2007. She was a member of the St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church on Derry Street where she attended faithfully. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and making afghans and especially visiting with her family and numerous nieces and nephews.
Surviving Rachel is her longtime friend and later caregiver, Bob Pagano; one brother Marlin H. Ginder, husband of Jean Oberholtzer Ginder, of Lititz; a brother-in-law Mervin Hurst of Ephrata; sisters-in-law Ruth Ann Ginder of Lancaster and Lois Ginder of Lititz; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Springer, who died in 1993. Also preceded in death by two sisters Jeanette Eberly and Nancy Hurst; and two brothers Jay Roy Ginder and Wilbur H. Ginder.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 5, 2025 at 11:00 am in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg. A viewing will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in the Church. Interment at the conclusion of Mass will be directly across Derry Street from the church in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Oberlin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rachel's memory to St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
