Obituary of Richard Shepley
Richard "Dick" Dean Shepley, 98, of Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday December, 3 2020 in Ecumenical Retirement Community.

He was born in Fisherville, PA to the late George and M. Esther (Garverich) Shepley. Dick graduated in 1940 from John Harris High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1944-1946.

He was a member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church, the Robert Burns Lodge F & AM # 464, a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, Susquehanna Golden Age Club, Pioneer Partner Telecom Pioneers of America, and the Captial Club. Dick retired from Bethlehem Steel with 41 years of service as a Pattern Maker. He enjoyed wood working, especially making clocks, doll houses, and benches. Dick was also an avid gardener whose beautiful rose bushes would bloom all summer long. For the last 25 years Dick and his wife Phyllis enjoyed volunteering their time at the Osteopathic Hospital and for over 32 years Dick and Phyllis were proud of their " Hug-a-Bear" program, sewing bears for hospitals, fire departments, and ambulances around the area to pass out to children in need of comfort. Dick's smile, infectious laugh, quick wit and heart of gold will be missed by all who knew him.

Dick is survived by his wife of 32 years Phyllis (Crissman) who he married in 1988 . He is also survived by his Step-Daughter Heather Reso and her husband Stephen, a niece, Rosemarie Watkins and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth ( Drawbaugh), his brothers James A. and George A. Shepley.

Funeral services and burial with full military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be held and announced at a later date when we are able to congregate together without restriction to celebrate Dick's wonderful life.
