Richard L. "Dick" Singer, 82, of Highspire and formerly of Oberlin, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in his home.

Dick lived in Masonic Children''s Home, Elizabethtown from 1952 to 1954 and attended Patton Masonic School for Boys and graduated in 1956.

He was a retired Model Maker and Machinist for AMP Inc. with 40 years of service. Dick was a life member of Neidig Memorial United Methodist Church, Oberlin; Citizens Fire Co., Oberlin, where he served as Fire Chief for many years; Past President of Dauphin Co. Vol. Firemens Assn.; EMT for Tri Community Ambulance Assn., where he served as a First Aid Instructor; former Board Chairman and member of Churchville Cemetery Assn.; former Board Member of Steelton American Red Cross; Past President of Oberlin Lions Club; Boy Scout Leader; served on Swatara Twp. Board of Commissioners from 1972 to 1980; was a founding member of Oberlin Athletic Assn., where he coached softball; Past President of AMP Nimrods; life member and Past President of the Masonic Alumni Assn.; and played Santa Claus for the fire company and church.

He was the son of the late Eleanor Singer and is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alora E. Tobias Singer; two daughters, Robin Lee Putt and husband, John of Duncannon and Beth Anne Singer at home; son-in-law, Scott E. Shanabrough of Rutherford; and four grandchildren, Melissa E. Packard and husband, Thomas of Enhaut, Matthew Alan Wood and wife, Hope of York Haven, Emily R. Putt and Sierra D. Putt, both of Duncannon; and seven great grandchildren, Alex, Kylee, Miles, Cambria, Jackson, Paislee and Lillian. He was preceded in death by one great grandson, Thomas.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11:00 am in Neidig Memorial United Methodist Church,1251 Highland St., Oberlin with Rev. Steven Cowfer, his Pastor, officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 am in his church. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oberlin.
