Roy Hippensteel

Roy Bigler Hippensteel, 81, of Harrisburg, died Friday June 16, 2023 in Gardens at West Shore.

Roy was a United States Army Veteran. He was manager of the Maintenance Department for the PA Turnpike Commission, Highspire for 12 years. Prior to that he had been the Head Custodian of the Custodial and Maintenance Department for Paradise Valley Unified School District in Phoenix Arizona for 10 years. Roy was the Former President of the Verhovay Home Association, Harrisburg and a member of the 40-8 Club in Harrisburg.

He was the son of the late Charles D. Hippensteel Sr. and Minnie C. Boyanowski Hippensteel. He is survived by his son Samuel R. Hippensteel, Harrisburg; a daughter, Tracy L. Watkins, Mechanicsburg; step-daughters, Anne Baker of Lynchburg Virginia and Peggy Jo Barrett, Buffalo New York; stepson, Michael Rice, San Antonio Texas; sister, Evelyn Hippensteel, Middletown; brother John Hippensteel and wife Annette, Highspire; nieces Cheryl Hippensteel, Steelton, and Karen Gramm of Carlisle; nephews, Tod Hippensteel and wife Kelly, New Oxford, Jason Hippensteel, Enola; ex wife of 21 years, Jane Patricia Shiley of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by sisters Kathleen and Margaret Hippensteel, and a brother Charles Hippensteel, Jr.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday June 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. 357 South Harrisburg Street, Oberlin, PA. 17113. A visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
