Ruby Gubernath

Ruby Marie (McCallister) Gubernath, 86, of Harrisburg, was called home on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Born in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Juanita (Jackson) McCallister. Ruby was a Supply Management Specialist at New Cumberland Army Depot for 29 years receiving numerous awards and medals for her dedicated work.

She was a proud supporter of the ASPCA and Toys for Tots. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark  Channel , reading, and going to the beach. She loved Christmas, bright colors, and anything with flowers and sparkles. She liked shopping and yard sales and was always in search of the best deal. Being the perfect combination of soft and strong was something she had mastered. Most of all, she was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Ruby is survived by her children Jake Barciz and his wife Rosemary, Rosemarie Barciz, Erik Barciz and his wife Kelly, and Kirsche Heberle and her husband Matthew; her grandchildren Tansy, Yenae, Kelly, Erin, James, and Kaylee; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sue Campbell and her husband Ernie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers David McCallister, James McCallister, Michael McCallister, sister Jennifer Meade; and granddaughter Jennifer Barciz.

Ruby will be laid to rest at East Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Pa. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area at www.humanesocietyhbg.org
