Sally Latorre

Sally Ann (Falcone) La Torre passed away peacefully on April 20. A Steelton girl with a beautiful heart, you always knew when she was in the room because of her laughter and love for family – and pets. We won’t share her age because she was never honest about it anyhow, so you can do the math.

Sally was born May 8, 1945, to the late John S. Falcone and Katherine (Keiffer) Falcone, their only child. She would grow up in Steelton where her parents, devout Catholics, made the highly controversial decision to eschew hometown Steelton High School for Bishop McDevitt High School, where she graduated in 1964. It really wasn’t that controversial, but we always like pointing out Bishop McDevitt victories over Steel-High.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Fausto A. La Torre, and sister-in-law, Theresa La Torre. Word has it Faust and Sally are already back to antiquing, and Theresa is making jokes at their expense.

Sally is survived by her children, son David J. La Torre (wife Jessica), and Caroline K. La Torre. She loved her children unconditionally, even though they were really a lot to handle. Before ever having children, she enjoyed being the cool aunt to the children of sister-in-law Anna Maria Stranges: niece Tania Graden (husband Ty), and nephew Nicholas F. Stranges (wife Amy). She was thrilled when nephew Frank Stranges (wife Arianne) followed a few years later. Later in life, she welcomed grand-nephews Tommy Graden, Matthew Graden and Nicholas R. Stranges.

The joys of her life were her grandchildren. She spent many afternoons watching her grandson, Gus, playing Little League baseball, and her tiny granddaughter, Stella, doing gymnastics and ballet. Frankly, there are too many pets to mention and we’re up against a word limit, so here are just a few: Missy, Licorice, Ty, Bailey and Pea-et. Don’t ask us what Pea-et means – no idea.

Sally was the kindest, sweetest person. Life was difficult for her at times, especially in the last few years during her illness, but she never lost her innate sense of love, compassion and humanity. We’ll miss her.

Funeral services are private.  Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.
