Shirley E. Bowman, 79 of Butler Street Senior Living, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022 in UPMC - Community Osteopathic Hospital.
She was a graduate of John Harris High School Class of 1961. Following school, she started working in the mail room and retired as a Commercial Lines Underwriter for Penn National Insurance Company of Harrisburg. She was the most senior employee of Penn National Insurance Company when retiring in 2003. Shirley was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church-Colonial Park where she was a youth and adult Sunday school teacher. A very devout Christian, she was charitable and generous and servant hearted. She was an avid sewer of blankets and crafts, loved writing poetry, doing jigsaw puzzles and loved butterflies. She was a cancer survivor and referred to herself as a "PANK" a Professional Aunt No Kids!
She was the daughter of the late Albert A. Bowman, Sr. and late Margaret H. (Stine) Bowman and is survived by a sister; Nancy M. Goodman of Dillsburg, brothers; Jim Bowman (Beverly) of Delta, Mart Bowman (Karen) of Rutherford; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers Henry Bowman and Albert "Pete" Bowman.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM with a viewing from 12:00 PM until 1:00PM Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 South Harrisburg Street, Oberlin. Pastor Pat Wirick of the Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, Officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery.
