Virginia E. "Ginny" Smith, 92 passed away Friday November 25, 2022 at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg. She was born February 11, 1930 to the Late Charles E and Late Anna (Matzinger) Smith.
Ginny is survived by her niece, Judith Fisher DeLutis (Dan), Lower Paxton Twp.; nephews James Fisher (Stephanie), Shermansdale, David Smith (Mary) of Steelton, Thomas Fisher (Renee) of Lower Swatara Twp. and Kenneth Smith (Ellie) of Oberlin; as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Charles Robert Smith and his wife Jacqueline and sister Margaret Elaine (Smith) Fisher and her husband Frank.
Ginny graduated from Steelton High School, Class of 1948 and Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1951. She worked at Harrisburg Hospital and retired from Blue Shield after 30 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the former First United Methodist Church in Steelton, and then transferred membership to Linglestown Life. Ginny enjoyed quilting and made many beautiful quilts for family. She became a resident of Bethany Village in 1997 and loved all the activities such as concerts, dinner theatre, bingo and travel.
Ginny''s family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Village for all the opportunities afforded her when she was well, and all the excellent social services and nursing care provided as her health waned.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10:00 am in Paxtang Cemetery, 490 N. Paxtang Ave, Paxtang. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Oberlin.
