Walter Earl Masters, Jr., 86, of Harrisburg and formerly of Chambers Hill, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, January 17, 2025 at UPMC Osteopathic Community Hospital. Born in Steelton, he was the son of the late Walter Earl Masters, Sr. and Esther Camille (Sprow) Masters. He was the loving husband of Regina A. (Radic) Masters, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
In his early days, Walter attended Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, and then later St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 998- Lawnton and volunteered with the Oberlin Fire House. He was a fan of Steelton High School Football and Notre Dame Football. In his spare time he enjoyed washing his cars and cutting the grass.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his daugthers Sharon Malatestinic and her husband Edward, and Susan Chibnik and her husband David; his grandsons Matthew Malatestinic (Frances), Patrick Malatestinic (Kaitlyn), and Anthony Chibnik (Melissa); as well as 6 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 12:00 PM at St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, Shrine of the Miraculous Medal, 4000 Derry Street in Harrisburg. A Visitation will be held in the church prior to service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Parish at the address above.
