John “Janko” Gojmerac, age 52, passed away on January 10, 2018 unexpectedly in his home. He was born on March 1, 1965 in Pravutina, Croatia.
He was the son of the late Jure Gojmerac Sr. and the late Marica (Gebic) Gojmerac. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1973 and graduated from Steelton-Highspire High School. John was a dedicated truck driver and an avid outdoorsman who found enjoyment being surrounded by nature. He showed a true passion as a hunter and always looked forward to his next outing or adventure. He was consistently reliable to lend a helping hand whenever anyone needed him. Always marching to the beat of his own drum, John will be remembered for his independent spirit. He was a member of St. Lawrence Lodge #13 Croatian Fraternal Union, Bressler Club and the Leesport Hunting Club.
He will be missed dearly by his surviving sister, Ljubica (Nikola) Vranicar, three brothers, Jure, Danilo (Leslie) and Miro (Rachel) Gojmerac as well as his step mother Milica; six nieces and three nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. David L. Danneker, Pastor, Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am - 10:30 am in the Wiedeman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St., Steelton.
