Fabiola Zahuranec Gornik, 96, formerly of Pine Street, Steelton, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

She retired from the Insurance Department of 1st Federal Savings and Loan, Harrisburg; was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton; a member of the former St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, where she had served as Parish Secretary; she served as President and Secretary of the Parish Council of Catholic Women; she served on the Parish Council, Diocesan Lenten Appeal, Parish Public Relations Chairman for the Parish Seniors Group; she also served as Secretary to the Steelton Deanery Council of Catholic Women, President and former Secretary to the former CYO Women's Club. She was very active in selling War Bonds during World War II and was a Hostess at various USO activities, as well as serving as a Volunteer for the March of Dimes, Bishop McDevitt PTA, and the Auxiliary of the Steelton Lions Club. She was a former member of St. Aloysius Lodge No. 42 KSKJ and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assn. Branch 114.

Faby was the daughter of the late John and Anna Regensbogen Zahuranec and the widow of Louis J. Gornik, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Anne Dolfi and her husband, David of Steelton and Joanne M. Deibler and her husband, Mark of Catawissa; a half brother, Bernard Zahuranec of Emerald Isle, NC; two grandsons, Kevin A. and Jeremiah A. Deibler; two great grandbabies, Theodore and Lily; several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas J. Rozman as Celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday, Jan. 28 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Second St., Steelton. Recitation of the Rosary Sunday 7:00 pm.
