Richard J. Handley, 87, of Steelton, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Select Specialty Hospital-Harrisburg.
He was a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant for the US Marine Corps with 19 1/2 years of service and a retired Forlift Operator for New Cumberland Army Depot.
He was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Middletown, and the Fifth Ward Republican Club, American Legion Post 420, and St. Aloysius Club, all of Steelton.
Richard was the son of the late Gilbert and Rose Olsavsky Handley and is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Leialoha Aguiar Handley; three sons, Timothy K. Handley and his wife, Lu-Ann of Highspire, Gilbert F. Handley and his companion, Sharon of Palmyra, and James J. Handley of Steelton; two daughters, Gale M. Jorich and her husband, William of Highspire and Rose Michelle Furlow of Ohio; one brother, Victor Handley of Steelton; one sister, Kathleen Hallman of Harrisburg; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard K. Handley and three sisters, Elizabeth Krobath, Rose M. Zerance, and Patricia Rodgers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 11:00 am in Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 280 N. Race St., Middletown with Rev. Ted J. Keating, his Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. There will be no viewing or visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Steelton.
