Alethea Winifred "Winnie" Lenker, née Snell, a lifetime resident of Dauphin County and long-time resident of Lenker Manor, passed away on October 25 at the Hershey Medical Center, at the age of 103 years. Winnie enjoyed excellent health for much of her life and maintained a 72-year loving marriage with William A. Lenker, who pre-deceased her in 2012, at the age of 97. She was also pre-deceased by her parents, Pearl Hummel Snell and John Snell, brothers Mark and Delbert, and son Ronald A. Lenker. Winnie was a graduate of Steelton High School, secretary to the class of 1933, in the top 5 of her class. She participated in many sports and activities that were available to her. She retired from the Pa Liquor Control Board and was a member of the former Redeemer Luther Church for fifty years. She was a member of the Paxton Presbyterian Church, the Paxtang Civic Club, the Rutherford House, and numerous other organizations of which she maintained close relationships. She was an avid Penn State and Phillies fan. Winnie loved to travel and got to visit nearly every state in the union. She went on many cruises, toured Europe and even visited China where she trekked the Great Wall. She is survived by a son, Jay Lenker, his wife Karen and a daughter-in-law Nina Lenker, three grandchildren, Stephanie Beach, Jenny Sladich and Melissa Lenker, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four step-grandchildren and ten great step-grandchildren, a nephew Edward Snell and his wife Karen as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Winnie was a remarkable woman with a sharp wit and sense of humor that never failed her. She will be missed by her family and many others in the community. A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2253 Derry Street, Harrisburg. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with the Rev. John Green, Pastor, Paxton Presbyterian Church, Officiating. Burial at the conclusion of services will be in Churchville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paxton Presbyterian Church, 3500 Sharon Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
