Douglas G. Jorich, 54, of Hummelstown, died Saturday, April 18, 2020 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the former owner and operator of Casa Chica mexican restaurant in Steelton and the co-owner and operator of Schmidt's Sausage Shop in Swatara Twp. and formerly in Steelton. He was a graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School Class of 1984 and the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. He was a baseball coach and loved his kids, who were the love of his life and his reason for living. Doug was a chef in New Orleans, St. Louis, Houston, and San Francisco. Doug was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Ann Schmidt Jorich and is survived by the mother of his children, Christine Pavone Jorich; three sons, Kyle Jorich, Ryan Jorich and Nathan Jorich, all at home; two brothers, Daniel H. Jorich and his wife, Denise of Susquehanna Twp. and Donald W. Jorich and his wife, Mary Elizabeth of Lower Paxton Twp.; two nephews, Tyler Jorich and Dylan Jorich; one niece, Rachel Jorich, who was his caregiver and spiritual motivator. Graveside Services and Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp. with Rev. Robert Ryder, Pastor of Centenary United Methodist Church, officiating. Viewing will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Steelton.
