Obituary of Edward Lescanec
Edward M. Lescanec, 93, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Frey Village, Middletown.
He was born in Steelton, son of the late Louis F. Lescanec, Sr. and Kathryn Matjasic Lescanec.
Ed was Manager, along with his father, at Lescanec Grocery Store in Steelton; a US Army Veteran of World War II, where he was a Prisoner of War after being captured by the Germans. He was retired from the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot with 25 years of service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Mrljak Lescanec; a sister-in-law, Helen Lescanec; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William A. Lescanec, Louis F. Lescanec, Jr., Gilbert L. Lescanec, and sisters, Ann V. Kelly, Isabelle K. Lescanec, Mary Simonic and Jean Lytton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Steelton with Very Rev. David L. Danneker, his Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Second St., Steelton.
