Obituary of Lester McClure
Lester M. "Shop 1" McClure, 90, of Harrisburg, died Thursday, June 28, 2018, in UPMC - Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
He was a retired Chief Master Mechanic for the City of Harrisburg - Bureau of Fire, known as "Shop 1". He was a U.S. Navy Veteran - WWII, having served on the USS Princeton; Past Commander and Member of Harrisburg American Legion Post 27; Past Dauphin County Commander - American Legion; Past President of Harrisburg Midget Baseball and North League Midget Baseball Associations; Inductee of the PA Sports Hall of Fame; Past President of the former Reily Hose Company 10 - Harrisburg, and member of several local volunteer fire departments.
Les was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Shirley M. Morris McClure and is survived by one son, Michael S. McClure; three daughters, Sandra L. Smith, Catherine E. Harro, Leslie M. Colville; one brother, Willard L. McClure; two step-brothers, Richard and Craig McClure; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 12:00 noon in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Harrisburg, 2253 Derry Street, Harrisburg. Burial with Military Honors will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon in the funeral home.
